As with all things custom black emblem production in small quantities has limitations. Below are the main limitations:

Unfortunatley though, it's one of the limtations of production of black car emblems & badges at small quantities. We haven't been able to nail down a glossy black emblem material that is truly UV stable. Over time all glossy materials ended us turning blue or brown over time. Our Black Emblem material with a satin finish, however, does not.
We've been in the custom emblem business since 2000, if there was a cost effective way to make quality glossy black Emblems & Badges at small quantities, we'd do it.
Because the core is black, and we cut and etch through the top layer to make your custom black emblem designs, the edges, and the etching will be black. However the material takes paint extremely well. You can definitely paint the emblems & badges once you get them. However is not a service we offer in house.
Unfortunatley we can’t offer any beveling or rounding of the edges either at these quantities.
Our custom black emblems & badges are 1/8″ thick. Unfortunately due to material manufacture limitations we can’t make emblems thicker than this.
Also when etching into this material we can only go about .25mm deep. This is to assure that the intgrity of the emblem holds up. We don’t want to make you an emblem that won’t last for years!!
All our black emblems & badges are backed with a 3M automotive grade foam adhesive. This adhesive is 1/32″ thick. This allows the emblems & badges to adhere not only to flat surfaces, but also slightly curved or irregular surfaces as are often found on automotive fender panels.
We don’t offer black emblems & badges with mounting studs or screws. All emblems will need a mounting surface to be installed on.

Custom Car emblems & badges are the best way to show off the hard work on your custom vehicle, or even just to officially give your car a nickname. The custom black emblems & badges are weatherproof and fadeproof. These custom black emblems & badges are UV stable and weatherable. They will not break down due to the sun or other weather components.
The OEM automotive standard for car emblems & badges is an injection molded plastic. However that requires a minimum or 300 units to achieve. At smaller quantities we have developed a plastic material that is processed differently, so it looks a bit different, but is still the same durability as OEM car emblems & badges.
These black emblems & badges, while being the same quality as OEM black emblem styling, are produced differently, so they have some limitations, however the tradeoff is that you can get your own custom black emblem without the huge cost of a full production run.
We can make these as Automotive Emblems or for any product as well. As a matter of fact, many business starting up use this material for branding their products.
